Brackley | Landscape-Led Masterplanning

Urban Design Box developed a landscape-led masterplan for a new neighbourhood of up to 700 homes in Brackley, creating a well-connected extension to the existing town.

The masterplan is structured around a network of green corridors and a central green spine, enhancing existing hedgerows and providing connected routes for walking and cycling. New recreation spaces, children’s play, allotments, structural landscape and a new rugby pitch for the local RFC provide a strong landscape and community framework.

A new north–south urban spine connects Halse Road with the A422, providing a clear structure for the development and creating a series of focal spaces where the urban and green networks meet. The retained Public Right of Way and new pedestrian routes further strengthen connections across the site.

The result is a distinctive, landscape-led neighbourhood where homes, movement, recreation and green infrastructure work together to create a strong sense of place.

Ahead of a subsequent appeal for non-determination, we provided a Design Statement to support the Inquiry which explained our design and how it responded to policy and best practice. The Appeal was allowed.
