Landscape-Led Residential Masterplan
We developed a landscape-led masterplan for up to 95 new homes, creating a connected and distinctive new neighbourhood that responds to its existing landscape setting. We were appointed following two Appeal dismissals (including one on Design) on the site and in order to review and develop revised proposals.
Our approach placed green infrastructure at the heart of the design, integrating generous public open space, a central play area, green corridors and sustainable drainage throughout the development. Existing trees and hedgerows were retained and enhanced, helping to strengthen biodiversity and create a strong relationship between the new homes and the surrounding countryside.
The masterplan brings together a mix of homes, including affordable and self-build opportunities, with well-connected streets, pedestrian and cycle routes and a series of attractive green spaces designed to support community, nature and everyday wellbeing.
Following refusal of the scheme on other matters (not design), we provided a supporting design statement for the Appeal Hearing, reinforcing our design rationale. The scheme was allowed.
